Area Residents Graduate Hotline Volunteer Training

CONTACT We Care, the 24-hour caring & crisis hotline in New Jersey, graduated twenty-one men and women from the non-profit organization’s intensive 12-week volunteer training program in a special ceremony on June 2nd in Westfield, NJ. Representatives from the agency’s Board of Trustees, volunteer pool, and staff joined with Executive Director David Owens of Westfield and Training Director Susan Fasano of Westfield as certificates of achievement were conferred upon each new graduate.

Graduates included: Scott Bartlett of Middletown, Flynn Bowen of South Orange, Coleen Chrystal of Union, Jackie Curran of Cranford, Nina Dalal of Highland Park, Gail Gibson of Millburn, James Granozio of Somerset, Nancy Hatfield of Westfield, Mary Irving of Plainfield, Patricia Kelley of Westfield, Dorothy Lallasher of Linden, Lilly Lupo of Manalapan, Jessica Mattfield of Scotch Plains, Sarah Mays of North Plainfield, Stephanie Muldberg of Short Hills, Kaila Queen of Iselin, Carrie Rosenblatt of Westfield, Myra Snow-Woody of North Plainfield, Carrie Swingle of Westfield, Jane Toskovich of Glen Rock, and Brenda Travelstead of Chester.

“We are thrilled to welcome these dedicated volunteers to the CONTACT We Care community,” said David Owens. “They join with nearly one hundred other compassionate individuals who give their time and energy to staff our caring & crisis hotline. By offering the gift of listening they make a tremendous difference, providing hope and saving lives.”

The graduation celebration was made possible by generous support from Clyne & Murphy in Westfield, and Edible Arrangements and Swiss Pastry Shoppe in Scotch Plains.

Since 1975 CONTACT We Care (CWC) has trained and supervised more than one thousand volunteers who offer the gift of listening to callers who are lonely, depressed, stressed or suicidal. CWC volunteers provide hope, offer compassion, and save lives through the caring & crisis hotline and community outreach programming.

CONTACT handles more than 10,000 calls a year — from individuals of all ages and backgrounds.
