CONTACT We Care Plans November Gala Honoring the Codeys
Westfield — CONTACT We Care, the 24-hour caring and crisis hotline will celebrate 33 years of providing hope and saving lives at its Gala fundraising event on November 6 at the Primavera Regency in Stirling, NJ. Senate President Richard Codey and Mrs. Mary Jo Codey will be the guests of honor at the event.
“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to honor the New Jersey husband and wife team that has done more to advocate on behalf of individuals with mental illness than any other in our state!” said David Owens, executive director for CONTACT We Care. “This celebrity event will raise critical funding support for our crisis hotline, which serves more than 10,000 callers each year throughout New Jersey.”
CONTACT We Care is based in Westfield, New Jersey, and is one of only two call centers in the entire state answering calls to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline 1-800-273-TALK and 1-800-SUICIDE. The phone lines are staffed by highly trained volunteers who provide the gift of listening to callers who are lonely, depressed, stressed or suicidal.
“We are honored to have tremendous support for our Gala from many dignitaries including: Senator Tom Kean, Jr., Assemblywoman Linda Stender, Mayor Martin Marks of Scotch Plains, Mayor Andy Skibitsky of Westfield, Mayor Robert Puhak of Cranford, and Mayor Colleen Mahr of Fanwood,” said Arlene Klemow, development director. “CONTACT’s Gala Committee is hard at work planning the November gala, soliciting sponsorship support, selling ad space in the Gala commemorative journal and gathering prizes for the Gala Silent Auction.”
