CONTACT We Care’s Director of Programs, Susan Fasano, will give a seminar on Suicide Intervention and Prevention at Community Access Unlimited’s conference called Pathways to Self-Sufficiency. The conference will take place on Monday, October 29th at the Eatontown Sheraton in Eatontown, NJ. For more information, call CAU at 908-354-3040 ext. 242.

CONTACT We Care will conduct a two-day intensive suicide intervention skills training class (ASIST) at the YMCA of Union on Saturday and Sunday, October 27th and 28th. The class is beneficial to CONTACT’s own hotline volunteers, mental health professionals or anyone wants to learn more about the subject of suicide. The cost to community members interested in ASIST training is $299. Group rates available. Call 908-301-1899 for more information.

Just in time for Holiday shopping! Pandora at the Menlo Park Mall will donate 10% of their proceeds on Friday, October 26th to CONTACT We Care. Whether you’ve been meaning to purchase one of their beautiful bracelets for yourself or someone special or just to pick up some charms, do it on the 26th at Menlo Park and CONTACT We Care gets a little gift, too!

The 2012 Call of Hope Gala benefitting CONTACT We Care will focus on the prevention of teen suicide. Joseph Clementi of The Tyler Clementi Foundation is this year’s keynote speaker. The Gala at the Shackamaxon Country Club in Scotch Plains takes place on Thursday, October 25th beginning at 6:30 pm with cocktails and an auction followed by dinner at 7:30 pm. On Wednesday, October 17th CONTACT We Care will have an information table at Wellness Day at Union County College. Wellness Day is focused on promoting awareness about mental, physical and spiritual health and learning how to care for yourself and others. The objectives of Wellness Day, a World Health Organization recognized event, are closely aligned with our mission at CONTACT We Care.

On Monday, October 15, CONTACT We Care will provide a Suicide Awareness Seminar to educators and administrators of the Cumberland County Technical Education Center. This training satisfies state mandated suicide education requirements and gives the staff tools they can use in recognizing at risk students and responding appropriately. On Monday, October 8th, CONTACT We Care will provide a Suicide Awareness Seminar to the faculty of The New Road School in Somerset, NJ. This training satisfies state mandated suicide education requirements and gives the staff tools they can use in recognizing at risk students and responding appropriately.
